This piece was designed as for the Whitney museum as a prototype for seating options through out their galleries.
It is constructed poplar wood with the individually cut rings laminated together in sections and then bolted together. The entire piece is held together by 96″ rods running through the various sections.
The piece is a unique practical sculpture accessessable from both sides. Created as a testament to the american craft movement in keeping with the likes of Wendell Castle, Sam Maloof .
