An original metal box from the 1930’s. It was produced for Eduscho – a German Coffee Company founded in 1924 and it was used for storing their coffee beans.
Around the 1930’s, the culture and art of the Far East was very fashionable. As people were able to travel more and discover far away countries, Europeans were fascinated by their ‘exotic’ culture and art. This is the obvious influence on the design of this box along with the traditional Japanese paintings on all it’s sides.
The paintings capture a Japanese family during various everyday events. The back ground is painted red with some floral motives around the paintings.
The box is in good vintage condition with some wear and patina on its surface gained by using over the years. The pictures are slightly faded on some parts.
