A fine and unusual vintage Asian Indian red lacquered bronze statue of Shiva Nataraja dating from the 20th century. The figure represents the Hindu God Shiva performing a dance. The figure is mounted on a rectangular pedestal base and stands on top of a dwarf and dances within a ring of flames. Nataraja holds a drum in one hand and flame in the other and a cobra snake uncoils from the right arm. The sculpture is decorated in a red lacquer with polished elements to the base, hands, feet and face. The sculpture is not marked and believed to date from the mid 20th century.
