On the island of Maui there is a stretch of coast that is as isolated and remote as it is surpassingly beautiful. This area, on the island’s east side, is home to a small community of hearty, back to the land types, many of whom grow their own food and built their own homes. As a result, there is a certain organic aesthetic to the architecture that we find very charming. The Hana Dining Chair, with its hand shaped spindles and seat, is a nod to this rugged ethos; hand made as a way of life.
We begin each chair with carefully selected lumber; each board chosen for its clarity and straightness of grain. The wood is milled on our finely tuned machines, then shaped by hand into spindles, legs, back rests, and seats. Once assembled, the piece is finished by hand with a natural oil/wax blend.
Available in walnut (shown), and white oak.
