Dessert Plates with Japanese Enamel Decoration from Longwy, 1940s, Set of 12

This set consists of 12 longwy enamel dessert plates. Each plate is unique and stages a flower shrub accompanied by an insect in a Japanese style. Their decoration is refined and they can be used to set an elegant table or as wall decoration elements.

The patterns of the plates wear butterflies, dragonflies, bees and cherry trees. Longwy enamels form a floral motif in the center of each plate, while the outline is decorated with insects. Each plate carries the brand “Longwy enamels” at the rear and has been decorated by hand. In addition, you can read the inscription “Decor by hand enhanced A.M.”

The boosters are real artists, because their work consists in adding a second layer of enamel (based on petrol or water) to the first layer to give dimension and relief to the drawing. The quality of the enhancement greatly contributes to the beauty of each room. These plates carry the initials “A.M.” For Masson André, who exercised his art between November 16, 1942 and September 15, 1946.
