Hand-crafted in the Maharashtra or Karnataka region of India in the late 19th / early 20th century, depicting Gauri, exceptionally executed in brass with polychrome pigment decoration, hollow with loop / handle at back of each.
Gauri, also known as Parcati, is the Hindu goddess of power, energy, nourishment, harmony, love, beauty, devotion, and motherhood. A benevolent goddess, consort of Shiva or Varuna, connected with the rains, she is reputed to be the source of the world and the embodiment of motherhood
