Vintage 1930s New Mexico Adobe Village Painting

Vintage circa 1930’s oil on canvas painting of New Mexico adobes and landscape by Laura Hoernig (1872-1957) American. Signed on verso. Unframed, edge wear. Born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1872 she lived at in Kansas City during the 1920’s. Hoernig studied and sometimes traveled with artist George Sass. It is known that Hoernig had traveled to Taos by at least 1923 and made frequent trips there through the 1930’s or later. She attended the Kansas City Art Institute in 1926 where she studied painting. She was a Painter-Member of the Kansas City Society of Artists in the 1930’s. It is known Hoernig exhibited at the Kansas City Art Institute Midwestern Art Show in 1927 and 1932. She also exhibited at the 4th and 5th Country Club Plaza Art Fairs in 1935 and 1936. She probably exhibited in many other Kansas City art exhibitions during the 1920’s and onward.Laura Hoernig died in 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri.
