A monumental traditional Rajasthani painting professionally framed in a gilt frame. We often come across miniature versions of these which are referred to as Mughal paintings. (And sometimes Pichhavai paintings, though this does not include Krishna) The larger ones are VERY rare to come by. This piece was brought from a trip to India and is hand-painted on either silk or paper and professionally framed. It depicts two men and a small child, on horseback in the mountains. The two men hold spears and wear traditional dress. Each horse has ornate fittings and blankets. They ride among a mountainous landscape with pale pink dirt and lush green trees. A tree of life grows behind the riders and has beautiful orange, green, and blue foliage. The edges of the painting are painted in a red border with gold leaves, and an exterior blue border and pink, blue, and yellow lotus. The frame is composed of wood and painted in gold, with a slightly red detail. A hanging wire is professionally installed at the back. This piece has not been examined outside of the frame. The back has the original New York Decoration & Design Building sticker.
