This antique authentic Satsuma teacup and saucer set is signed, but the artist has not been identified and was made in Japan in circa 1900 in the Anglo-Japanese style. The tea cup and saucer and both ornately decorated with hand painted panels, possibly of scholars, bordered with ornate hand painted details and a stippling technique known as moriage. The inside of the cup’s bowl is hand painted with a group of figures which are replicated in the panels around the sides of the cup and duplicated on the saucer. Both the cup and saucer are signed on the bottom of each piece respectively.
