A highly decorative and well made pairing, the desk is based on an antique campaign piece dating back to the English occupation of India. These pieces were made for the export market, basically visiting high ranking military officers and dignitaries wanted something to take home from their campaigns to India, so the natives started copying English furniture but adding their own special twist which in this case is the use of Rosewood and the ornate inlay
