This four hinged panel screen or room divider has no maker’s label or signature, but is presumed to have originated from India and date to approximately 1900 and done in the period Anglo-Indian style. The panels are composed of a softwood with inset hand-carved and hand-painted panels of leaves. The interior panels have hand-painted figures in traditional dress with one panel done with male figures and the alternate with female figures. The panels are accented with hand-painted stylized flowers on the supporting frame.. Please note, due to the various configurations that the four hinged panels can be placed it, and wideth and depth dimensions can vary. As such, the posted dimensions refer to each individual panel, which the screen is composed of four.
