A good antique American Empire period flame mahogany work table, New York, circa 1840.
The table made from flame mahogany and having three drawers, the top with a fitted interior, the third drawer with a pleated satin fabric embroidery ‘basket’ (fabric is fitted around a wooden carcass). Each drawer having twin turned handles inset with an ivory inlay, the base drawer with a carved cartouche to the center and the underside having a compressed ball finial at each corner. The table is supported on a tapered pedestal/ hemspherical base and is raised on a platform terminatind to four scrolled feet. The table is in excellent condition and is ready to grace your home.
