A very impressive sculpture of an Asian elephant formed from bone tiles decorated with hand painting and applied elements forming a traditional howdah. The former owners commissioned an elegant custom stand featuring a hand painted faux malachite finish and parcel gilding. The elephant is in three pieces, the figure and howdah bed are all one, the vessel atop the figure is separate as is its lid. The elephant alone measures 33″ w X 16″ d X 39″ h. The stand measures 33″ w X 18″ d X 16″ h. Total height 55″. overall in excellent condition.
